Most creators sign their first management contract during or right after an exciting pitch call, which is exactly the wrong moment to be evaluating it critically. This is a plain list of questions worth asking, ideally over email so you have the answers in writing, before you sign anything.
Money
- What is the split calculated from, gross revenue or revenue after platform fees?
- Are there any costs billed separately from the split, and if so, what and how much?
- What's the payout schedule, and who initiates the transfer?
Access and control
- Do I keep login access to my own accounts, or does the agency hold exclusive access?
- Who owns the account if we part ways: you, or the agency?
- Can I see real-time analytics, or only summaries the agency chooses to share?
Content and persona
- Who decides what content gets made, and can I set hard limits upfront?
- Do I approve the persona and marketing before it goes live under my name?
- Who's actually writing my chat messages, and can I review how they represent me?
Getting out
- What's the notice period to end the contract, and is there an exit fee?
- What happens to my content and account if I leave?
- Is any of this in writing, or only discussed verbally on calls?
If an agency hesitates on any of these twelve, that hesitation is the answer.
A note on pace
A legitimate agency expects to be asked all of this and can answer most of it without needing to "check with the team." If you're being rushed toward signing before you've had time to think it over, that pressure itself is worth treating as information.
Ask us all twelve
We'd rather answer these before you sign than after. Our terms are published, not withheld for a call.
